8 months

At this very moment, the baby daughter is rolling across the floor (no crawling yet) and getting herself completely wrapped up in a blanket. And trying to chew blocks at the same time. And somehow smearing the mushed beets she ate for lunch across said floor.

She really perks up when I play Neil Yong and Fleetwood Mac. Of ABBA, she is not a fan. Far and away her favorite band is the Magnetic Fields.

She sometimes makes babbabbaba sounds, and in moments of sleep-deprived delirium I have thought that she might be calling me Mama, but this has never been confirmed by an outside observer.

All in all, she is as perfect and adorable as always, with even redder hair and more meat on her bones.

Lost & Found

Yesterday, we left our diaper bag on the curb when we drove away. It was a nice diaper bag, but more to the point in was filled with things - diapers, pacifiers, some wooden toys, and, most sadly, the new sweater that Grandma Sue sent just a few weeks ago. It was gone in a flash, and I put signs up in the neighborhood, hoping that maybe someone would come across it, but mostly I did it to make Mike feel better.

And, lo! This afternoon a very nice lady called to say that she had found the sweater and some other things strewn across the empty lot on the next street. She walked over to our house and, sure enough, she had the sweater. A nice end to the weekend.
